Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world

Nelson Mandela

Fortunately, in most countries all children have the right and access to good education with suitable subject matter and enthusiastic teachers. But it seems clear that in many places education is not the highest priority in terms of choice, policy, facilitation and status. It is understandable that economic progress is the number one driver for choices and policies in many countries, but it is precisely through education that this growth can best be achieved in the long term. The question remains, of course, whether economic growth should be our shared mission in life. Regardless, education can provide the best win-win situation.

Talent economy rather than knowledge economy

The knowledge economy is often leading in educational ambitions, but it would be better if education prepared us for a talent economy. This produces more happy people and ultimately everyone benefits from wide-spread life satisfaction. There are enough teachers who, despite all the restrictions and guidelines, fill their program and lessons in a talent-oriented way. Unfortunately, grades, tangible results, educational targets and parents’ expectations have more influence. Are we succesfully training the next generation to be ‘old-school’ like robots designed for the past or are we developing creative humans, with agile skills for the future we may not even be able to imagine?

Hidden pillarization and inequality of opportunity

Do you think social inclusion, natural learning and a person-centred approach are important within your school? And do you want to offer more space for talent identification and development? I can provide inspiration to get the best out of yourself, your pupils, students and colleagues. Teaching remains the most important profession in the world, with a new opportunity to stimulate curiosity every day. Teachers can inspire a child’s heart and mind when they are intentional in sharing their inner passion and talents.

It is amazing to see the exciting reactions of my students, when I share my newest videoclip with them.

Teachers take care of your Students (John Mayer – Daughters)

…I hope, that you start to see
That treasure hunting is all what they need
Teachers, be good to your students
Your students will be just like you
Kids become grown-ups, and turn into parents
And maybe become also teachers too…
